The AV and MJ Mason Trust offers an annual scholarship through the publishing programme at Whitireia.

This scholarship was established by Andrew Mason, a widely admired book editor and literary editor of the New Zealand Listener in the 1980s. It also acknowledges Andrew Mason’s father, Malcolm Mason, who was involved in publishing as chair of Reed Publishing in the 1960s and 1970s and author of three books.

The scholarship is offered to one student studying publishing each year, who is selected on the basis of financial need. The scholarship covers approximately 75% of the fee for the fulltime course.

Applications are to be made directly to the Mason Publishing Trust and must be received by 31 January each year. More information is available from the publishing programme.
