This year we have had the pleasure of welcoming two students from overseas, Allie and Anja. To add to our Meet the Class 2018 in our Autumn Newsletter, we thought we’d ask how these two have been enjoying the course.
Where are you from?
Allie: San Francisco, California
Anja: I grew up in Oer-Erkenschwick, Germany and was living in Berlin before the course.
What’s been one of your favourite things we’ve done/learnt in class so far?
Allie: The chance to moonlight as a social media marketer for class.
Anja: I enjoyed binding books at the beginning of the year and getting insights from the industry professionals who came in to speak with us.
What has been your favourite part of your projects?
Allie: Working so closely with authors and building a good relationship. I currently am working with Adrienne Jansen and over the course of six months I have convinced her to start a blog, which is really exciting because it gives her a larger online presence. I hope to begin my career in social media marketing.
Anja: The real hands-on experience with real clients, and helping authors put out the best versions of their books possible.
Why did you choose to study publishing? And how did you hear about the course?
Allie: I heard about this course when Helen came to speak to my travel writing class at Massey to talk about it, I then became interested in the other side of writing.
Anja: I love books and I care about language and stories. I found the course through googling publishing courses in English speaking countries.
