Jax Goss was the project manager for Creative Commons Aotearoa New Zealand (CCANZ)’s publication A Quiet Revolution: Growing Creative Commons in Aotearoa New Zealand, released as a free ebook and a crowd-funded print book in 2015.
Working on A Quiet Revolution: Growing Creative Commons in Aotearoa New Zealand was definitely a steep learning curve! We got it done in the end, though, and it turned out to be a very neat little book, if I do say so myself.
We got to edit a very wide variety of writing styles, and there was a lot of value in having to revisit and re-evaluate the individual pieces in relation to the whole. The crowd-funding aspect was also very interesting, and we were incredibly pleased to get well over our original funding target.
I think for me the greatest thing that came out of it was a very good understanding of Creative Commons licensing and how it works, which has stood me in very good stead in the work I have done since graduating from the course.
